I knew from the very first time I played Super Mario Galaxy that it was destined to be a guaranteed future classic not only for its innovative and creative gameplay, but also for its stunning visual design—so stunning, in fact, that I often forget the game wasn’t HD and was running on the weakly-specced Wii.
But even I couldn’t have predicted how beautiful the game really is when set to Queen’s 1979 hit “Don’t Stop Me Now”. The song’s uplifting and exhilarating cosmic imagery perfectly accompanies Mario’s adventures zipping around small planets and flying around stars and nebulous cloud-worlds.
If not for licensing issues, an edited version of this video would be a great television ad for the game.
