So Google finally got around to rolling their own URL shortener service—not long after Facebook’s fb.me and only a couple of months after Digg—though it’s limited to links generated by Google Toolbar. Fun fact: http://goo.gl/e goes exactly where you’d think it goes.

The reality is it doesn’t particularly matter how fast or slow the networks are compared with each other. Public perception of AT&T’s network has already been fatally damaged by Verizon’s recent wave of attack ads so it’s highly unlikely that mere numbers or statistics will change their luck.
